The Sumitomo Corporation Group has 884 Group companies in 65 countries and regions around the world (as of March 31, 2024). These Group companies are operating in a wide range of industries, including many industry leaders, which is a source of strength for our Group.
Each Group company respects the Management Principles and Management Strategies of the Sumitomo Corporation Group while practicing autonomous management. As a shareholder of these Group companies, Sumitomo Corporation is involved in making important decisions at the board of directors and other relevant bodies of each Group company through active dialogue built on relationships of trust. We create new value through collaboration among Group companies, including Sumitomo Corporation. In 2021, we established the Group Management Policy to share the fundamental ideas and policies of group management and to implement them in a more advanced way.
The Group Management Policy sets forth the three principles that the Sumitomo Corporation and each Group company shall respect: Autonomy, Dialogue, and Cooperation, and clarifies the roles and responsibilities of each Group company within the framework of the Group management. By sharing and implementing the values outlined in the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s Management Principles, Management Activity Guidelines, and Group Management Policy, we effectively and swiftly respond to changes in industrial structures and sustainability trends. Moreover, by developing into a corporate group comprised of companies that will serve as key drivers of future earnings, we enhance the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s business portfolio and maximize corporate value.
